We strive to continue to upgrade and expand the graphical experience behind Dark Age of Camelot. With Atlantis there
will be many new and exciting changes to the engine, which will further enhance the immersiveness of Dark Age of Camelot.
All of the following upgrades discussed will be visible not only in the new Atlantis areas, but also in the Classic
and Shrouded Isles areas.
Introducing SpeedTree®
With Trials of Atlantis comes another upgrade to the tree system present in
Dark Age of Camelot. The use of Interactive Data Visualization, Inc (IDV)'s
SpeedTree® allows for more realistic and interactive tree structures within the game without causing strain on the
client's rendering time. SpeedTree® allows for not only more developed and realistic trees, but also more kinds of
trees such as palm trees and pine trees (with their cones).
New Terrain Texturing System
Our latest addition to the graphics fold is the terrain generation system, which allows artists to create several
detailed "layers" in a zone's terrain. This leads to much higher detailed ground textures that smoothly join
with other, different textures in the same zone. More detailed roads, farmland, rocky paths, and snow give
players a more in-depth means of immersing themselves into Dark Age of Camelot.
Reflective Water
Truly reflective water has been added as a third water visual option for players on top of the Classic and
Shrouded Isles water engines. The reflective water system provides real-time feedback of objects and lighting
in and around bodies of water as well as a more fluid sense of motion, thus giving the player a more natural
environment.

Upgraded Interfacing with XML
Atlantis will introduce a new, skinable interface system for players using XML technology. This will allow
players to flex their creative muscles and customize their own game interfaces. With the launch of Atlantis, players will be
provided with four brand new interface skins: Atlantis, Albion, Hibernia, and Midgard.
Below are some screenshots of the new interface skins included with Atlantis:
